2.1 Textbook

There is no required or recommended textbook. The course is a synthesis from various sources. I will include references where appropriate. The Resources page contains information on sources.

2.2 Getting Help

You should email the instructor to ask questions. Please do so from your UW email address. In previous offerings, we had a public forum, but it was not used much, even with larger enrollments. Consequently, I have not set one up this term, but I can do so if there is sufficient interest.

2.3 Lectures

Lectures will be entirely online, using the Möbius system. (They have been since this course was first designed, long before COVID-19.) Students can access Möbius through the CS 600 course page on LEARN. Möbius lectures consist of slides with timed transitions and voiceovers. I will post an introductory video on LEARN providing an overview of the course, which you should view before starting the Möbius material.

2.4 Homework

Homework assignments will be available through Möbius. Please read through the Assignments Web page and the Handouts Web page.

2.5 Exams

There are no exams in this course.

2.6 Grading

Grades will be based on the homework assignments. They will be available in the LEARN gradebook.

2.7 Software

There is no software that you need to install on your own computer, unless you are using Windows, in which case you should install a terminal emulator to allow remote login. Instructions are available in section A of the lectures on Möbius.
