Announcements
4 Apr 2009 Project presentations will be in MC 2036 (our
regular classroom). This is true of both the Monday and Tuesday
presentations.
1 Apr 2009 Office hours today will be 2:00-3:00.
30 Mar 2009 It appears that the best times for project
presentations are still Monday morning (10-12) and Tuesday afternoon
(2-4). (Sorry to those who have to sit through presentations in
two courses on the same day. We'll at least avoid you not having
to *give* two presentations on the same day!) The schedule is up on the Web. Note
that everyone is expected to attend both sessions (not just the session
that you're speaking in!).
25 Mar 2009 The schedule of project presentations is on
the Schedule page. As
suggested in class today, half of the projects will be presented on
Friday April 3, and the other half will be present on Monday April
6. The projects were partitioned among the two dates by a roll of
the dice (with the exception of the two SCR* projects being constrained
to be on the same day). Note the early start time (10:00
AM)! This way, we'll be done by lunchtime on each day. Let
me know ASAP if you have a conflict with these proposed dates and times.
22 Mar 2009 - Office Hours this week: Monday 3:00-4:00,
Wednesday 3:30-4:30.
21 Mar 2009 - Office Hours this week. I have a doctor's
appointment on Monday after class, and I am hosting the faculty
candidate on Wednesday. So, I'll need to reschedule my office
hours for this week. Stay tuned.
12 Mar 2009 There is a tentative schedule for Monday's project
proposals on the Schedule page.
There are nine project groups (although one group will be absent on
Monday and will present on Wednesday instead). Because several
groups are working on the Ground Traffic Control problem, I will
present the problem at the start of lecture, so that those groups can
just discuss the challenges of modelling and verifying the problem in
their respective tool. Groups who are modelling a different problem
will have extra time to present their problem and its desired
properties as well as the challenges of modelling that problem.
10 Mar 2009 Assignment 2 is posted on the Assignments page.
10 Feb 2009 I have to cancel office hours tomorrow (due
to a Ph.D. defense). Send me email about project groups!
2 Feb 2009 More information about UW newsgroups (and how
to read and post to newsgroups when off campus) can be found at
http://www.math.uwaterloo.ca/mfcf/faq/news.html#news
29 Jan 2009 I'm holding an extra office hour on Friday from
3:00-4:00PM. Also, questions about the assignment can be posted
to the course newsgroup (uw.cs.cs745).
22 Jan 2009 Courtesy of Prof. Aagaard, there is now an
smv-README file in /watform/doc (on mudge) that shows how to set
environmental variables for your favourite UNIX shell and shows how to
start the tutorial. Enjoy!
22 Jan 2009 On request, I have PDF with everyone's names and email
addresses on the course Web site, so that you can contact potential
teammates.
20 Jan 2009 Assignment 1 is posted on the Assignments page.
15 Jan 2009 We *will* have class on Monday. But I
will need to leave for Oshawa right after class, so there will be no
office hours that day.
7 Jan 2009 First lecture will be Wed. Jan 9.
31 Dec 2008 Welcome to CS 745! The web pages are
currently under development.
