discript Utility Overview

Dell OpenManage™ IT Assistant User's Guide

NOTE: You must run discript on the management station.
NOTE: You can only use discript to manage client (non-server) systems.

The program that runs the IT Assistant command-line interface, discript, is located in the \bin subdirectory of your installation directory. For example, during a typical installation, the directory path in which to locate discript is the following:

C:\Program Files\Dell\OpenManage\IT Assistant\bin

To access the command-line application, perform the following steps:

  1. Create a command-line script file according to the instructions and examples. Use a text editor such as Microsoft® Wordpad or Notepad to create the script file as a text-only file.

  2. Save the script file with the extension .sc.

  3. Open a command prompt window, change to the \bin subdirectory of your IT Assistant directory, and type the following command:

discript script_file_name.sc

NOTE: You must run the command-line interface script from the \Program Files\Dell\OpenManage\IT Assistant\bin subdirectory.
