Service Call Tool Kit

The following items may or may not be useful in one's toolkit on a service call.

  1. Philips screwdriver, of course, in a couple of different sizes
  2. USB key, 256MB minimum but more is always better - good for backing things up, copying drivers or tools to a networkless PC
  3. Windows password recovery CD
  4. FIRE has been useful in investigating compromised Linux PCs
  5. Helix has had good mentions too, but I've never used it
  6. Recovery Is Possible I really like RIP, it's a recovery CD that seems to work well with all of Fedora, Debian, and Ubuntu. It used to boot FreeBSD too, but that no longer seems to be the case.
