Research interests
Professor Ilyas's research interests are in area of database systems, with special interest in data quality, data cleaning, managing uncertain data, rank-aware query processing, and Information extraction. Professor Ilyas's research is systems-oriented with an emphasis on prototype development and experimentation.

Professor Ilyas is a co-founder of tamr Inc., a startup focusing on large-scale data integration and cleaning. From 2011 to 2013 has been on leave leading the Data Analytics Group at the Qatar Computing Research Institute. He spent two summers with IBM Almaden Research Center and was previously an IBM CAS faculty fellow.
