Undergraduate Research Opportunities Conference (UROC)
UROC is a four day, invitation-only, fully funded research workshop at the University of Waterloo for top undergraduate students in Canada.
- Mini research projects
- Industry and faculty panels
- Graduate student panels
- Research lab tours
- Student-faculty mixers and social activities
UROC was a great opportunity to meet other students from across the country, get insight into some really interesting research topics, and understand my potential. I appreciated the chance to see what the UWaterloo campus was like, who the professors were, and meet graduate students already involved in my areas of interest. Given the chance, I would do it again.
- Brittany Postnikoff, University of Manitoba (2015)
I didn't know what to expect from UROC as I'd never attended a conference before and wasn't even sure I was interested in grad school. It turned out to be a really valuable experience. I came away from it with a lot of information and insight about research, grad school, and industry, and am strongly considering graduate studies (particularly at Waterloo). My favourite part of the entire experience was being around so many other people who are passionate about the same things I am. It was really inspiring.
- Athabasca Witschi, University of Victoria (2015)
I came to UROC 2015 and signed up for the algorithms project on a whim, and ended up meeting a number of interesting people and learning about an interesting class of problems which I’d never heard of before.
- Sean Harrap, University of Waterloo (2015)
