  performance and correctness is pervasive across\ncomputer systems such as
  shared-memory multiprocessors\, databases\, and\nlocal file systems. The 
 same tradeoff exists in distributed storage\nsystems as well\; designers m
 ust often choose consistency or\nperformance but not both. In this talk\, 
 I will show how we can build\ndistributed storage systems that provide str
 ong guarantees yet also\nperform well.
