Once the system comes back up, login and enter:

sudo aptitude -y --with-recommends install dselect

sudo wget -q -O - \
       https://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/cscf/software/ubuntu/UW-CS-custom/etc/apt/installed-packages.txt \
     | dpkg --set-selections

sudo dselect install
