In addition to querying its own database, ST also relies upon:

• LDAP queries of WatIAM
• SQL queries of the CSCF research subscription database
• SQL queries of the CSCF inventory database

These

• CSCF research subscription system
• CSCF inventory system
• ST time tracking
• ST access control

make direct SQL queries of the ST database. And an unknown number of staff (ok, maybe just Lawrence) have been known to make SQL queries of ST via the `st-sql` command.
