The "Date Worked" field is updated whenever any form of comment is added to an item. It isn't updated when other attributes of an item are changed. It's intended to be a better measure of significant change than "date_acted" is.
When specifying this field in a customized sort or display, any of the names "date_worked", "Date Worked" or "Worked" can be used.
