******************************************************************************* 5th Canadian Student Conference on Biomedical Computing and Engineering CSCBCE 2010 May 20-22, 2010 Waterloo, ON http://www.cscbce2010.org ******************************************************************************* *NEW* Paper submission deadline has been extended to March 15th, 2010 (23:59 EST). *NEW* Previously published work may be submitted for paper presentations. *NEW* Travel awards available (priority for presenting authors). *NEW* All keynote speakers and tutorial instructors are confirmed. Details regarding each of these points are provided below. CSCBCE is a research event that will bring together students in the fields of computational biology and biomedical engineering for an opportunity to network and learn about the latest advances in this rapidly-evolving research area. The conference provides opportunities for networking so that students may get to know their peers in the field. Further, publishing at a conference such as CSCBCE is beneficial for those considering graduate studies or academic careers and provides a good experience in the nature of presenting research. Finally, we have world-class academics giving research talks at the conference, which will be an enriching experience for anyone in the area. Conference topics include (but are not limited to): Computational Biology and Bioinformatics • Computational Genomics • Molecular sequence analysis • Molecular evolution • Protein structures • Gene networks • Combinatorial libraries and drug design • Computational Proteomics • Microarray design and data analysis • Structural and functional genomics • Biomedical data/text mining • Integrative/comparative genomics • Applications of the above Medical Imaging and Computer-Aided Procedures • Medical image segmentation • Medical image registration • Image based tissue classification • Computer aided diagnosis • Visualization methods • Computer assisted interventional systems • Anatomical atlases • New applications for specific imaging systems • Functional imaging • Biological image analysis • Applications of the above Keynote Speakers ================ http://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/conferences/cscbce2010/speakers.html Nobuhiko Hata, Director, Surgical Navigation and Robotics Laboratory, Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital Ming Li, Canada Research Chair in Bioinformatics, University of Waterloo S. Submission Details =================== http://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/conferences/cscbce2010/submission.html *SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED* Paper submissions are due on March 15th, 2010, no later than 11:59PM EST. *This deadline is final, due to publication constraints.* All submissions must be in .pdf format and submitted electronically at https://www.easychair.org/login.cgi?conf=cscbce2010 For templates and more submission details, please visit our conference webpage at http://www.cscbce2010.org and follow the Submission link. All papers will be peer reviewed and comments will be provided to the authors. At least one of the authors of every accepted paper is expected to register and attend the conference to present the work. We will accept work that is published elsewhere, however we must be notified about such papers so that we do not publish them in the proceedings. If submitting published work (or work that you would prefer not published by CSCBCE), please clearly indicate that your paper should not be published at the end of your abstract. Accepted publishable papers will be printed in the conference proceedings, and each registered attendee at the conference will receive a print copy of the proceedings. Undergraduate students are particularly encouraged to submit work to the conference. This may consist of course projects or significant 4th year project proposals. Important Dates =============== Paper submissions: March 15th 2010 Acceptance notification: March 28th 2010 Camera ready version: April 10th 2010 Deadline for poster abstract submission: April 10th 2010 Awards and Support ================== Awards will be given for best paper and best poster in each category. In addition, we have a significant number of travel awards available. Applications will be available on our webpage shortly. Further, all students presenting research at the conference will receive complimentary registration and priority for travel grants.
