Moojan Ghafurian is the inaugural Wes Graham postdoctoral fellow in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo.
She received her PhD in Information Sciences and Technology from the Pennsylvania State University and her interests and background are in human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and cognitive science.
Moojan’s research explores computational models of how humans interact with computers to inform user-centered design that is applied to assistive technologies for the care of people with cognitive disabilities, and primarily persons with Alzheimer's disease. She is a member of the Computational Health Informatics Lab (CHIL) and an AGE-WELL HQP. She is currently working on developing emotionally intelligent assistive robots that can improve quality of life of persons with dementia.
